MY Goals for the Year-Spiritually

As a young women leader i have the chance to earn the Young Women in Recognition award. It's not something i have to do, but something that is enouraged of us to do to be an example to the girls and also so that we will be able to relate. So I am going to start doing this-I am really excited as I have already started on one of my goals which is to listen to more uplifting music for three weeks (notice my music change here?). I have notice also that being a Young Women leader I have an advantage of hearing all of the lessons that cater to developing oneself with all of the 8 standards once again. Hearing the new theme for Mutual this year-"Be thou an example of the Believers..." I have really felt more inspired about changing things in my life and doing the Personal Progress again is helping me Act on what I want to do.
We are also doing a Preparedness Program within our ward which is really motivating. It's like a university program with electives/requirements (goals) to achieve to recieve an assoc, bachelors, master, doctorate..depending on what you have done throughout the year to get your family ready temporaly-building up to 1 year family storage plus saving 3 months of income. And the ward will be offering classes throughout the year to help the families get this done. I really can't wait to see what my family can get done-even without a job at the moment. But I have faith that if we are working hard to do what the Lord has commanded of us-there will be a way provided to us. So if you are feeling overwhelmed by making change in your life and don't know where to start-I am going to encourage you to look on lds.org in the church library and look at the personal progress manual and pick one or two of the values and do some of the things in it. It will really help you make a change for the better.

My little smarty pants

Last week Whitney's school had their second quarter awards assembly and Whitney received an Academic award. There were only two given out to her class. I am so proud of her and how much she loves to learn and works really hard at getting better at everything she does. She is so determined to read harder level books. And math is one of her strongest areas.
Way to go Peanut!!! (dad's nickname for her)

Pictures of Brooke

We were just snapping a bunch of pictures today and here are two that I thought were adorable:
I love how sweet she is in this one.
I totally look at this picture and see both my mom and Joe's mom in her!

Photo tag

Okay this one is a new one-but thought I'd try it and see what came of it since the other two blogs i've seen that did this turned out with a pretty decent/cute picture. So here is mine: THis is Joe holding Amber at the Fair two years ago while we waited in line at the pony rides
Anyway here are the rules:

Go to your Picture Folder on your computer or wherever you store your pictures.
1. Pick the 6th Folder, then select the the 6th picture in that folder.
2. Post that picture on your blog and the story that goes along with the picture.
3. Tag 6 other people that you know or don’t know to do the same thing and leave a comment on their blog or an e-mail letting them know you chose them.

I tag Emmalee, Carrie, Angie, Sora, Celeste, Nicole, and Nadell. Have fun

The search continues...

Yes, we are still looking for a job. We have applied to at least 100 jobs so far and we are now hearing back from companies saying that alot of the jobs have been cancelled. It is frustrating at times to hear this but it's just nice when companies actually do reply to your application in some form or another. I, myself have applied to about ten jobs as we decided that if nothing else, maybe I can work to help supplement our income for a time. I wanted to let everyone know that we can really use your extra prayers in helping our family find stable work that will meet our needs. Or that if I go back to work and he becomes Mr. Mom-that we will each have what we need to fill our new roles. Every little bit helps and I know that if Joe and I are doing all we can, something will come up. I just hope that it is soon. Thanks for all of your support.

Changes

So once again I changed my layout-mostly because it matched the weather outside and also because it just needed a small facelift-removing some things that were outdated and updating the new. I guess with the new year we all probably take a look at our lives and try to do the same thing about ourselves. Since everyone else's blog i've visited lately has a list of to do items on them I thought I would add mine to the crowd. Except mine or more or less things I hope will happen this year and i narrowed it down to ten things. So here goes, and in no particular order either-

1. Joe get a job
2. Get in shape-cardiovascular.
3. Spend more one on one time with each of my children.
4. Organize all my craft/scrabooking stuff -and closets.
5. Try to get to bed earlier.
6. Get to know my neighbors-really reach out and befriend them.
7. Say my morning prayers-
8. Visit my grandparents in California
9. Get more genealogy work done and visit temple more than once a month.
10. Last-hopefully be able to add on to our family-which ofcourse is really in the Lord's hands.

two weeks...

So it has been about two weeks since i last blogged so i thought I would just recap what happened since my last post. After Christmas, Joe's younger brother departed and the next day his older brother ascended with his family of 6. His eldest son had a basketball tournament that weekend so came up early to celebrate the new years with us. We went to the YMCA to go swimming, played board/card games and ate alot of sweets. *which wasn't good for my weight loss goal* Joe got the 24 hr flu then his brother got it. Thankfully noone else did. I felt like we were living in a lysol world few days. It was fun to go to my nephew's basketball games. They took second and lost the championship game by only 2-3 points-can't remember exactly but it was really close and both teams were deserving. Luckily all of the girls behaved well for all 5 games. It was alot of fun to enjoy the company of both families. We really enjoyed having them stay with us.
