Books

I don't buy Novels because I never read them more than once-except for David Copperfield and Pride and Prejudice. I have to admit I read those ones twice, once in HS and once in College. The only books I think I would purchase would be Church books like the Miracle of Forgiveness or something that discussed Doctrine to use as a reference and maybe a good cook book-so pretty much just instructional books. What about you? Do you buy good reads when you find them-do you actually read them more than once? I hate the predictability of it. But some people find comfort in already knowing the book ends on a good note. Anyway just wanted to know what everyones thoughts are on this as some gals in my ward have a book club going and we are discussing books that some have read more than once and I am like-why not read a book you haven't read three times already? There is a thing called a library-and books come free there. (sorry to sound sarcastic) Comments????

I get your point. I don't re-read books, But our book club has about 7-20 people that come monthly. We can never get the book from the Library (if they even carry the book) because there are so many people who are trying to get it. So that leaves buying it or trading the book around or borrowing it from someone. It sounds easy to trade it around but you have to be able to read it fast enough and/or you are waiting for someone else to hopefully give you enough time to read it. I hope this isn't to confusing. I wouldn't want to book club a book I had read 3 times. But The people are going to have to be able to get a hold of the book in some other form if they are going to participate.

I love buying books, and reading them all the time. I have so many books its not even funny. I am always in the middle of a book. If its one I don't like as much, I'll get rid of it.

I have to admit I've re-read books. I don't do it with all books, but with some, yes, I definately re-read. I am a book FIEND, so I buy them like crazy. Hence the reason I have about 400 children's books. I know, I need help! So I collect them, and I re-read them, but mostly just the classics. When I grow up (if that ever happens) and I actually teach my own classroom, I'm going to want to have books to put in it! So that's my rationale! hehe!

Hi Arin, this is Alison (your cousin) I have periodically looked in on your blog :)... Interesting question. Have to say, I buy books all the time. I am constantly reading, because of this, I don't remember particulars and stories mesh with other stories in my head. So if I haven't read a book in quite a while, I definitely will read it again. Not only that, but its nice to loose yourself in a good book and since you are just reviewing, you can do it in a night or two.
I don't know if you have seen my blog, I am at btflgal.blogspot.com, please come and visit! :) ~Alison

Thanks for all the commments- I see everyone's point. Especially Melissa's on the book club-because that's how ours works. I love books that are great but aren't predictable-I get dissapointed when I know what's going to happen next. I mean I like a good ending but I love suspense and a good story line that sort of just throws you off-and you want to desperately know what happens next. By the way my favorite books are Historical Fiction.
